John is going to provide you the fundamentals of teach, whether you are looking to share your knowledge and experience with others for the first time or if you are looking to your already existing teaching practice, this Masterclass is a must!
Here are some key points from John’s masterclass!
First off, when it comes to each project / band, approach each one with the love and dedication it needs. You have got to be into it.
On teaching, explain the dynamics of drums. If a student has an electric kit, the strike is different to an acoustic kit. Show that you don’t need to strike hard on all drums / cymbals.
One of the most important tools us drummers have are our ears. Always listen to the music. Play for the music.
Having a student diary really helps with progression. It tracks what you teach, and is a way to track each student.
Have systems in place. If a student wants to stop lessons. There should be a notice period.
If you are going into teaching, make sure its for the right reasons. Stick with it. If you are taking on students don’t let them down.
We really enjoyed this session!
