West Yorkshire, England
band: Session Drummer
STICK SIZE: 7a
I’ve been drumming for over twenty years. I picked up drums after listening to my fathers eclectic catalogue of some of the (in my opinion) greatest bands of the 70’s and 80’s, such as The Who, The Police and Genesis to name a few. I’ve held an endorsment with Kickport since approximately 2012.
I tutored under Richard Wilson of RAW studios, Halifax, who helped me discover and develop my personal style as a drummer and who also gave me the opportunity to attend multiple masterclasses with experts in their field including Craig Blundell and Gábor Dörnyei. I also have my Master of Arts in Music Production and Live Performance.
I’ve worked previously for an entertainment company in Leeds, West Yorkshire that put together covers bands for holiday parks, hotel chains and small private functions throughout the UK.
I now find myself recording covers, and short demonstrations on various social media platforms such as YouTube and Tiktok, with the occasional session work.
WHY DO YOU PLAY COLLISION?
I have recently moved to Collision’s 7A standard sticks, and the difference they have made to my drumming is night and day compared to my previous stick of choice, which were both shorter and lighter than the Collision equivalent.
In addition, I feel the collision sticks suit my individual playstyle much better as they feel heavier in hand, without effecting external dimensions. This is something I have had to compromise on in the past, either by using sticks that were either too large a diameter or too long for my requirements in order to get the sound I wanted.
For this reason I feel the Collision 7A’s are a good all round stick for me.
My favourite aspect of the Collision brand as a whole is the unrivalled communication between company and artist- it is clear that it is a company made by drummers, for drummers, who all share the same love of music production be it for fun or as a career.
I also like the inclusivity of the Collision community online with the opportunity to share knowledge and collaborate with people from all around the world with different abilities and different goals.
