I started playing drums at the age of 11 and had classes up until I was 21. I used to cover songs daily in my teenage years from my favorite bands like Slipknot, Lamb of God and Megadeth. I developed my musical ear that way, finding every little detail in a song was my pastime.
I didn’t join any band yet, but in 2015, at a bar in Montreal named ”Foufounes Électriques” I had a wonderful conversation with a guy named Simon, and he was searching for a drummer for a brand new project, I went to the audition and at the very end of it we already had a composed song ready-to-go. The lineup was completed by the next week. This project is called Confined to Oblivion. We released to EPs so far, The Cycle in 2016 and When Did We Stop Listening in 2018 and both are available on Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube and every other streaming platform. The tracks are a fusion of metalcore, melodic lead riffs, heavy and groovy rhythms with a touch of progressive and death metal type sections. We play hard every show, no matter the size of the venue, the location and how many hours we spent driving there, we always offer the highest energy show anywhere we are. We have a new singer since 2018 and we re-recorded our song Lights Out with his power vocals. We played with artists such as Unearth, Darkest Hour, Beyond Creation had the honor of being invited by the Agonist to play for their album ”Orphans” launch in 2019 to a packed venue, the Fairmount Theater in Montreal. We are now working on the final touches to a full length album with much more progressive, death and melodic elements.
I am also currently being endorsed by SJC Drums, I’m using their Tour Series kit with a custom maple Snare drum.
I use 5B sticks because they offer great versitality in my playing with amazing reach, precision, feeling and tone. Yes, tone! Those sticks make your drums sing with all of their majestuous power. They’re also weighted perfectly, not too heavy or too light, they are the perfect tool to help me achieved the power and accuracy in my playing.
My favorite thing about Collision Drumsticks is the passion behind the brand with people who care about their artists and understand what it’s like to be a drummer out on the field.
I recommended Collision drumsticks not only because they offer a great line of diverse products, but what they offer you is high quality stick that will last you for a long time, while also supporting great people running this company.
Live show review by Bucket List Music Reviews: Up next was Confined to Oblivion. There was no mistaking the death/melodic metal influence these guys were bringing, mixing in influences from bands like Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying and maybe even a little bit of Slipknot. They’ve been around for a few years, but admittedly, I was hearing about them for the first time that night. If I’m being completely honestly, their style of metal is probably the one I least listen to, but these dudes fucking crushed it. They ripped through a half-hour set that included their latest, heavy-as-fuck single “Lights Out,” a track full of heavy breakdowns and grooves that make headbanging an impossible thing to NOT do.
