band: WE ARE THE LOST BOYS
STICK SIZE: 5a
I grew up in a small town called Corsham, I’ve been drumming for about 25 years and gigging for the last 10. When I was growing up I dreamed of being in a band and rocking out. Just over 10 years ago I joined my first official band, called Scout Killers (now known as Cielo Drive). This was my first exposure to gigging and studio recording. We gigged fairly regularly, we also had a self recorded EP and a studio mixed EP released which was a great experience. A number of the tracks got airplay on BBC Introducing and an unsigned band show in Birmingham. These were great times, but sadly after a year and a half I left the band. From there I joined a function band in Bristol called Kerrys Gold, this is where I really honed my skills as a drummer. Scout Killers was an indie/rock band, Kerrys Gold were a band that played all sorts of styles from jazz to rock n roll and swing to pop. I really learnt a lot in the 2 and a half years I spent gigging with this band and it was great fun. The gigs started drying up so I went in search of joining a new band. This is when the Lost Boys were formed.
I answered an ad that was put on the internet for a new rock band looking for a drummer in Bristol. this is when I met Carlos the original founder of the band back in 2013. The band was initially a four-piece band, we gigged around some great venues in Bristol, as we became more noticed we started picking up gigs a bit further afield, we had bookings for Swindon, Weston Super Mare, Burnham on sea, Hereford and more. About a year or so down the line we got picked up by The Fleece in Bristol for support acts for bigger artists. We started off with 2 or 3 gigs supporting some up and coming signed bands which was a great experience, we had all seen bands play at this venue but to get our own slot was amazing. We got a call about 3 years ago asking us to support an oasis tribute band called OAS-IS. They were known as the worlds best Oasis tribute band. This was an immense gig, The Fleece was sold out to capacity. I have amazing memories of that gig, especially our final song. We covered Sweet Child Of Mine and the crowd went wild. What makes this even more memorable is that a friend of the band managed to get a high quality video of that song and the crowd, its been posted on social media and I still watch it to this day. It has to be the best gig I have ever played.
In mid 2018 the band took a break, we had been at it for 5 years and 2 of the members had other projects they wanted to focus on. The band reformed in December 2018 without those members. I rejoined in march 2019 as I too had other commitments. We are the Lost Boys, now a five-piece band, Carlos the original founding member is our rhythm guitarist and male vocalist, he looks after the band behind the scenes too. Mick is our lead guitarist, he has some great ideas that he brings to the table to make us stand out from other bands, he also loves getting involved and ventures out into the crowd. Ben is our bass player, hes a solid player and easy to lock in with which is great for a drummer! Ben also has a quirky sense of humor, its great fun as i’m the same and we really bounce off each other, and finally we have Meriam our lead vocalist. Now this is a lady that can sing, she captivates the audience with her amazing voice and she loves to dance around the stage which really gets everyone in the mood for a great night.
To have the opportunity to be endorsed by Collision Drumsticks is something I’m really personally proud of. It is such a great achievement and its amazing for the band too. We are looking for additional endorsements between us as yet but who knows what will happen, at the moment we are just looking forward to the future and what it has in store for us.
WHY DO YOU PLAY COLLISION?
I actively play with Collision 5A Standards Drumsticks.
My favorite thing about the Collision Drumsticks brand is that the are true to their word, “A full force, bold and hard hitting brand. I am a hard hitting drummer and the sticks really do stand up to the test.
i’d recommend Collision Drumsticks to other drummers as they are great value for money and they really are super durable, why would any drummer want to keep putting their hand in their pocket to keep buying sticks that don’t last.
