I started playing drums when I was about 12 years old. In music class the teacher came out with clarinets and saxophone and all I could focus on was the drum kit in the back. Luckily I was able to get the part and started playing in my school band. When I was 16, I started playing punk rock with some of my friends and we had a blast. Shortly after high school I joined a local cover band and played a few shows around town and then joined a couple more over the next few years playing shows all over New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI. “The big wide hurt” was my first writing experience on the drum kit and I fell in love with writing. I wrote around 30 songs with that band and recorded a couple in the studio. In more recent years I’ve gotten away from covers and have dedicated myself to writing, performing and recording. Dorian’s Retreat is a high energy alt rock band with lots of important messages in the lyrics. Being like minded bandmates with some similar values has opened up our creativity and we’ve recorded a couple songs and have written many more that we can be proud of. Land of lions is a soulful, heartfelt experience like no other. The lead sing JM Ferland delivers a vocal like none other and captures the audience right to their core. It’s an amazing experience to be apart of such an emotional journey. I also do alot of session work with Studios Productions and have recorded drums for multiple different artists in different genres.
