Joe Colfar started his drumming journey in his late teens. This soon led him to attending the Academy of Contemporary Music, studying music for 4 years after which he gained his degree in music performance. At ACM he crafted his skills with the guidance of some some of the top UK teachers such as Stu Roberts, Mike Sturgis and Frank Tontoh
He then cut his teeth playing in rock, ska and punk bands touring the UK and Europe and playing many notable festivals including Boomtown, Bearded Theory and Rebellion. He’s recorded at legendary studios such as Rockfield, Middle Farm and the Ranch Production House.
Joe is currently playing with recording Roots Reggae band The Gyrators who’s music has been spun by the likes of David Rodigan and Channel One Sound System. UK ‘punk n roll’ legends the Witchdoktors who have played with the likes of Jim Jones, The Dammed and Dan Baird. He also plays for Irish Punk outfit The Lagan who have supported the Likes of Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys.
He has played shows in the UK Europe and the US and has done session work, played in functions bands, done dep gigs as well as recording work for artists worldwide in genres such as rock, pop, jazz, funk and soul. He also runs his own drum teaching business.
WHY DO YOU PLAY COLLISION?
So I am currently playing the 5B Reach sticks. My favourite thing about the collision brand is the balance of their sticks s well as their sense of community within the company and with the drumming community as a whole
