band: session drummer
STICK SIZE: 5A
I started holding sticks when I was about 12 years old, and while it took me a while to really find my footing on the instrument, the passion hit me like a train. I found myself in the drum room at almost every free spot of time I had in my last year of high school and started posting covers on instagram and youtube to share my new found love for the drums. I started my first thrash metal band when I went to university in London, which was so much fun! I met a lot of people, grew my love for heavy metal and really got to see the mechanisms of how a band worked. Sadly, it was not meant to last though, as 2 weeks before our first recording session, the COVID19 Pandemic hit and I was forced back home with my parents. I did not take it as an opportunity to give up, though, and started practicing up to 6 hours a day. I also grew my social following to a couple thousand on posting covers alone! Along the way, I decided to move back to my childhood home in Sydney, Australia, and made the life changing decision to focus on the drums full time. I am at my kit almost every day now, constantly learning and taking myself to as far as I can go. Furthermore, I started a band again at the beginning of 2021, and I am so excited to start entering the scene, putting out music of my own and to see what the future holds!
WHY DO YOU PLAY COLLISION?
After trying out a few sizes and seeing which was the best fit, I had finally settled on the standard 5A size for a fat rock sound, but also because it gives me a wide range of tones on the drum-set as well. It is also the size that fits my hands the best.
My favourite thing about Collision Drumsticks is how resilient they are. Because of the type of music that I usually play, it would take me usually a couple of weeks to go through a pair of sticks, but since I started with Collision, I have used the same pair of sticks for months!
I would recommend Collision drumsticks to any beginner, aspiring and professional drummers simply for how down to earth they are as a brand! I love how immediately after I bought my first pair of sticks, they immediately made me feel like a part of their family, and that kind of community is something I would wish on anyone trying to make their way through the drumming world.
