ARTIST PROFILE
Joshua Van Ness
East Brunswick, NJ, USA
band: The Wag / Natalie Farrell / “The How it Ends Podcast”, Solo Artist / Session Drummer
STICK SIZE: 7A
My journey as a drummer started around the age of 10. I would arrange anything I could find (couch cushions, clothes hampers, pots, fans) like a drum kit and play along to songs by Prince, Guns N Roses, or Kiss. When I was 12, my family bought me a drum set for Christmas, and I was on my way! I studied drums and percussion throughout my school years, playing in jazz band and an extremely competitive marching band program. At the same time, I was beginning to get experience playing in bars and clubs. In my mid 20’s I took some time to focus on being a singer songwriter, a role I still enjoy playing from time to time. However the drums have always been my true love!
In recent years I have been fortunate to be on bills supporting The Revivalists, Ben Folds,Gavin Degraw, King’s X, The Motels, The Suburbs, The Buckinghams, Trigger Hippy and many others. My bands have performed at legendary venues like The Stone Pony, Starland Ballroom House of Independents, The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, The Whiskey A Go-GO, House Of Blues Anaheim, Abby Road on The River, East Coast Music Conference and The Soulsational Festival.
Currently you can catch me performing with The Wag and/or Telegraph Hill recording artist Natalie Farrell. In addition I often guest with bands like Lost Romance, Katherine Quintana, The Strazzacasters, and I do studio or remote recording sessions whenever possible. At This time, I am proud endorser of 7Drums, Attack Drumheads, Skygel Damperpads, and of course, Collision Drum Sticks!
Thank you! Keep Playing! – Joshua
