Touring and recording with Red Decibel artists, Cher UK, Lisa Mckenzie first made her mark in the music scene. Playing venues like First Avenue in Minneapolis, The Limelight in New York, Emo’s in Austin and festivals like CMJ and SXSW, Cher UK was a staple in the pop/punk scene. “She’s a weird little snack”, released, 1993 and “Go Go Fish” released 1994 on Minneapolis based label Red Decibel. Then moving on to Kansas City based jump blues/swing/ New Orleans soul band The Grand Marquis, Lisa Mckenzie was also a founding member. They traveled the United States for 18 years together, making records and touring. Playing places like the Orpheum theater during the 2011 IBC finals, opening for acts like Preservation Hall jazz band and Big Bad Voodoo Daddies and recording at Sun Studios, The Grand Marquis became a jump blues midwest force. They released five records together, “One More Day”, “Blues and Trouble”,” Hold on to Me”, “The Sun Session” and “La Chant du Diabla Bleu”. Lisa in currently the drummer of the Kansas City hard hitting country rock act The Damien Gunn band. Currently writing and release music and touring the midwest United States. “I have been lucky enough to study with some of the greatest drummers in the world:” Johnny Vidacovich, Jim Riley, Todd Strait, Doug Auwarter, Godwin Agbeli, Rubin Agbeli, Shannon Powell, Jake Sommers and Sam Platte. She is forever a student, constantly trying to improve her craft and embrace the love of rhythm,
