Luke had a love for music at a very young age and really became passionate about it when he first picked up the guitar when he was 7 around this time was when he also started guitar lessons. He kept taking lessons until he was about 15 and around the same time he started playing in his first bands. Around the age of 16 Luke picked up the drums because of the lack of drummers when he studied music at college. Shortly after picking up the instrument he found love for extreme metal drumming. He was really inspired by bands like Fleshgod Apocalypse, Dying Fetus, Suffocation and really wanted to play the same style of music. Over the years Luke drummed for Section 9 and Fractured Perceptions but currently he drums for Penny Coffin. Scottish 4 piece Penny Coffin utilise sinister riffle and an onslaught of chaotic drumming, alongside demonic, suffocated vocals, and miasmic guitar atmospherics, to create some brilliantly harsh and claustrophobic death metal. Luke joined mid 2023 just after the release of ‘Conscripted Morality’ bringing his own twist of extreme metal drumming to the band. Penny Coffin have already played a good amount of shows with Luke behind the kit and have supported Legends Decide in Glasgow. Luke also plays Guitar for Unhallowed Void, Lashing Out and also does guitar and vocals for Desecrated Extinction. Luke has composed countless songs/parts in the bands he has played for allowing him to take a different approach to how he plays and writes as a drummer.
