ARTIST PROFILE
Luke Stroud
Swindon // bristol // oxford, uk
band: the wirebirds
STICK SIZE: 5A
As an artist, I would sum myself up with one word, groove. If it doesn’t groove, then I’mm not interested. My groove is based heavily around a strong back-beat, featuring strong kick and Hi-hat elements, I’ve never played a gospel chop in my life… yet.
Currently I am endorsed by Trexist Cymbals USA, and of course Collision, but watch this space for more to come in the future.
In my fledgling career, I have had the pleasure of playing some notable venues and festivals in the southwest, from supporting toploader at Minety music festival, to playing the Fleece in Bristol.
Heavily influenced by my father and my Island heritage, Blues and Reggae are a large part of what we do in the Wirebirds and Strange brew, where I actually get to play alongside him.
WHY DO YOU PLAY COLLISION?
I play a range of stick sizes depending on the setting and style of music, my go-to size is a is a standard 5a.
My favorite thing about the Collision brand itself is the warm, family feel; the team has made me feel really welcome and valued straight from the get-go.
As drummers the thing we go through quickest is of course drumsticks, the Collision sticks are sturdy and long-lasting, and the custom option gives you great levels of personalisation, overall great quality items and a wonderful company to deal with.
