My main band at the moment is Aaronson. We’re a Post Rock trio based in South Wales, and are definitely worth a listen for anyone interested in the likes of Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, This Will Destroy You, among many other Post Rock legends. We’ve only been gigging since early 2020, but have already made waves being judged as Runners Up in “The Big Gig” which was based in Cardiff. We’ve also released an EP called “You Are Not a Stranger Here” so go check that out on Spotify/iTunes/Bandcamp/Soundcloud.
I also play drums for fellow Newportonian Jack Perrett. We’ve played all over the UK including The Cavern Club in Liverpool where we made it to the final of Norther Exposures Inmusic competition, Isle of Wight Festival, and many sold out hometown shows in Newport’s famed Le Pub. We’ve also played alongside many up and coming artists such as The K’s, Young Garbo, Rats, Nadia Sheikh, Rusty Shackle, Pastel and Al Moses, just to name a few.
WHY DO YOU PLAY COLLISION?
I’m currently playing with the Collision 5A sticks, which I’ve found to be the perfect fit for my style. I have also used the 5AR sticks which were a touch too long for my liking, but it’s always worth trying new things, and getting out of your comfort zone!
Using Collision sticks has been a lifesaver in the last few months. They’re super resilient, can hold up to the more intense shows, as well as responding super well on the quieter/slower tracks too. Couldn’t recommend them more to anyone looking to support a smaller, British based up and coming brand who are offering top quality products!
“I know very little about instrumental band Aaronson, but I know enough to be excited.”
– Gavin Facey
Jack Perrett writes brilliantly unaffected anthems. They’re the kind of songs I can imagine being sung back to him by large, large crowds”
– Adam Walton, BBC Introducing Wales
