I have always been drawn to music however it was at Beulahland Bible Church in Macon, Ga that I first saw drums played in a way that made me want to learn. Over the years, I played on a neighborhood friends drum set until I was able to save up to buy this really old 1970’s Remo drum kit from an estate sale my grandmother was running. I think I practiced almost five hours a day, playing to everyone that I thought was the best version of what a drummer should be able to do. To this very day, I do not know how my grandmother and neighbors put up with that but if they are reading this, later on, THANK YOU!!!
I had three great teachers (Elgin Mayfield, Miguel Castro, and Jim Williams) and learned a lot about how to find my style and how to be a human metronome for lack of better words. I’ve played for a lot of bands since then but my favorites were Stranger than Most (2012-current), Ye Flask (now CrabHammer 2013-2015) Another Year Unknown (2018-2019), Kellytown (Present). All bands were great experiences and a lot of fun to be in.
WHY DO YOU PLAY COLLISION?
I play with the 5ar’s and absolutely love the reach they provide with my style of playing.
The people that make these sticks really care about what they are putting out there for the consumer. It may take a little time to get the sticks but once you have them it makes the wait worth it and then some. A Quality product is everything in this business as far as I am concerned.
The durability of the sticks is the best I’ve ever experienced. I can buy a brick of these sticks and lend a few out to other drummers while on tour or at a gig and not worry that my pair will break. It takes me performing seven gigs back to back before I make note to bring another pair with me just in case. Compared to going through a pair of sticks every performance.
“Played well for a challenging event in a short time. Tim did a fine job in a very short window since we had our in house drummer sustained an injury within a week and a half of the performance. The presentation included a wide variety of styles and he did all of them with great quality. His demeanor was kind, professional, and we would use him again.”
