My friends call me Shak. I’ve been playing drums since I was just a toddler. I currently play for 2 different bands. Songs of Solomon is a group that I’ve played and traveled with since 2011, Preforming in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and The Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao Spain. My most recent gig with Songs of Solomon was at Rockport Opera House in Rockport Maine. Playing for Songs of Solomon allowed me to earn an opportunity to complete an internship with Carnegie Hall’s Future Music Project Ensemble which lead to a performance on Stern, the biggest stage in Carnegie Hall and one of the biggest in New York. Shortly after my internship I recorded an album with a gospel group called peumatica in which I composed, played, and sang.
In June of 2022 I began playing drums for Grammy nominated artist Fyutch with whom I’ve played at Wolftrap Children’s Theatre, New Brunswick Heart Festival, Brooklyn Academy Of Music, and recorded on TV with Pbs39. I’ve also performed with Grammy winners, Snooknuk, Kymberly Stewart, and Grammy nominated artist Divinity Roxx (Beyoncé’s bassist).
WHY DO YOU PLAY COLLISION?
My favorite thing about Collision drum sticks is their durability.
If you’re a drummer who needs long lasting sticks that don’t crack or break in the middle of a live set, please invest in some Collision sticks. You will not be disappointed. Also, they sound pretty crisp on the drum heads.
