Hayden Crease

band: Palps / Jellyfish and the Milkmen
STICK SIZE: 2b // 5ar
I was given my first pair of drum sticks at the age of 10 by my Great Uncle (sounds like the beginning of a horror novel but it’s not). He told me to ‘do something useful with them’ , and since then I’ve tried my best to achieve that. I was an awful drummer for what felt like an eternity, as I originally only had fifteen minute lessons once a week for two years when I first began learning at school. In that short time I learnt a lot about reading music and timing though. However once I received a personal tutor for an hour a week, after two years I was able to start listening to and playing along to songs and began a new campaign of transcribing songs by ear and learning how to play along to my favourite artists of the time, like Architects and Bring Me The Horizon (circa 2009).
19 years of drumming later, I’m in the bands Palps with our debut album (Black Heart) coming out in 2022, and replacing the original drummer of Jellyfish and the Milkmen who are also bringing out a new album (Desert Circus) in 2022. Both bands look forward to a lot of shows in country this coming year, and who knows, you may see either of the bands on line ups in the coming years! Thanks for reading.
WHY DO YOU PLAY COLLISION?
I’ve bought 2B and 5AR as I like to have a mixture, depending on the mood. 2B cracks the cymbals and 5AN is light and long enough to switch between the Snare and left hand cymbals.
So far the Collision family has given me the warmest welcome, I feel so comfortable talking about my favourite passion with like minded people as if I’m a part of the furniture! If you love drumming and are sick of buying new sticks every month then look no further because Collision will have you covered, hard-wearing durable sticks is what they specialise in and I personally won’t be straying from this brand!
