ARTIST PROFILE
DryBones Malone
Oroville, California USAA
band: Session Drummer
STICK SIZE: 5b
I had a neighbor that played drums, that was I began showing an interest in the percussion. I was 8, but it wasn’t until I was 17, that I got a chance to play a kit. Shortly after doing so, I joined the US Navy and left for bootcamp. 12 months later, I bought a kit started playing in local cover bands and with DJs in local night clubs. After gaining popularity I chose to leave the military to pursue music. I struggled a lot initially, its hard making money off your passions. Slowly I gained momentum, and began taking lesson with Thomas Pridgen (The Mars Volta). After a few years I was signed to Diamond Kut Drums and later Soultone Cymbals and DrumDots.I began playing more often with several acts. Radio Relapse (a popular local cover band), an appearance with Guidance Band, Jah Remedi, and many many others over the years. Ive also played at many House Of Blues jams over NAMM weekends in Anaheim, as well as many guest appearance and sit ins in LA and throughout Chico. Currently I play with Blaze1, a nationally touring artist based out of Chico, California, with Blaze1 I’ve opened for E40, Bones Thugs N Harmony, Mike Jones, AfroMan, Big O’Mezzy, Nef the Pharaoh and many more. I also play in a heavy rock band called Biggs Roller, we are currently recording our 1st album. Im also available for session work as well.
WHY DO YOU PLAY COLLISION?
I play 5Bs, but occasionally I will use 5As. These sticks have been the most durable brand ive ever played…Ive used every “popular” brand and I shred through them, not with Collision, the strength and durability, no tips chipping or cracking, it is very impressive. I recommend these sticks to anyone that prefers durability and quality over name recognition, these sticks last!
